·         For Technician Grade 1 Signal: The candidates must hold a B.Sc. in Physics/Electronics/Computer Science/IT/Instrumentation or a Degree/Diploma in Engineering. OR B.Sc. in a combination of any sub-stream of basic streams of Physics/Electronics/Computer Science/Information Technology/Instrumentation from a recognised University/Institute OR Three years Diploma in Engineering in the above basic streams or in combination of any of the above basic streams (OR) Degree in Engineering in the above basic streams or combination of any of the above basic streams"

·         For Technician Grade 3: The candidates must have completed their Matriculation/SSLC plus ITI from recognised institutions of NCVT/SCVT in the trade of Forger and Heat Treater/Foundryman / Pattern Maker / Moulder (Refractory). (OR) Matriculation/SSLC plus Course Completed Act Apprenticeship in the related trades.

Age Relaxation

Candidates from reserved categories get standard relaxation in the upper age limit: 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC-NCL, and additional relaxation for PwBD candidates (10 years for UR/EWS, 13 years for OBC-NCL, 15 years for SC/ST). Ex-servicemen get age relaxation equal to their length of service plus 3 years (UR/EWS), 6 years (OBC-NCL), or 8 years (SC/ST) after deducting service length from their actual age.

RAILWAY RECRUITMENT BOARDS (RRB) Recruitment 2026 Selection Process

Candidates often ask how RRB selects Technicians, and the answer is a three-stage process based purely on merit. The recruitment involves a Computer Based Test (CBT), Document Verification (DV), and a Medical Examination, with shortlisting at each stage determined by performance in the previous one.
