The High Court of Gujarat has released an official notification (No. RC/B/1458/2026) for direct recruitment to the posts of Librarian (Group-C) on the establishments of the District Judiciary and Librarian cum Research Assistant (Group-C) on the establishment of Industrial Courts and Labour Courts. Vacancy Details

A total of 30 posts are available, distributed as follows:

• Librarian (Group-C) on establishments of District Judiciary: 29 Posts
• Librarian cum Research Assistant (Group-C) on establishment of Industrial Courts and Labour Courts: 01 Post

The detailed category-wise breakup for District Judiciary is provided in Annexure ‘A’ of the official notification. For general category candidates, there are 30 total posts, with 2 posts reserved for women and 2 for persons with benchmark disabilities. No vacancies are available for SC, ST, SEBC, EWS, and Ex-Servicemen categories. However, candidates from these reserved categories can apply against the Unreserved Category and will be eligible for relaxation in examination fees.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria as of the last date for submitting the Online Application (i.e., 20/10/2026):

Educational Qualification

1.    A Bachelor of Library and Information Science or its equivalent Degree from a University recognized by the Government.

2.    Preferably, a Degree in Law.

3.    A certificate regarding basic knowledge of computer as prescribed by the State Government.

4.    Sufficient knowledge of English, Gujarati, and Hindi Languages.

Experience Required

Candidates must have 02 years of experience working in any well-organized Library after obtaining their degree.

Age Limit

Applicants should not be less than 21 years and not more than 37 years of age as of 20/10/2026.

Age Relaxation

The upper age limit will be relaxed for various categories:

• Women Candidates: 05 Years
• Persons with Benchmark Disabilities: 10 Years
• Ex-Servicemen: Actual Service rendered plus 03 Years
• Employees working in the State Government: 05 Years OR to the extent of equal number of years for which service has been put in by him/her, whichever is less.

In any case, the upper age limit for any candidate, under any Category/Class, shall NOT exceed 45 Years while availing the above-mentioned age relaxations.

Application Fees

The application fees are as follows:

• For Reserved Categories (SC / ST / SEBC / EWS / Ex-Servicemen / PwBD): ₹750/- plus usual Bank Charges.
• For All Other Candidates: ₹1500/- plus usual Bank Charges.

Fees must be paid via “Print Application/Pay Fees” Button through SBI e-Pay on the HC-OJAS Portal.

Pay Matrix of ₹ 25,500-81,100/- plus usual allowances,

Selection Process

The selection process will consist of two stages:

1.    Main Written Examination (Objective Type – MCQs): 100 Marks

2.    Viva-voce Test (Oral Interview): 40 Marks

Candidates belonging to the PwBD Category must secure a minimum of 45% Marks in the Main Written Examination. All other candidates must secure a minimum of 50% Marks in the Main Written Examination to qualify for the Viva-voce Test. For final merit list inclusion, candidates must obtain a minimum of 40% Marks in the Viva-voce Test.

Main Written Examination Details

• Date: 29/11/2026 (Sunday)
• Duration: 02 Hours
• Questions: 100 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), each carrying 1 Mark.
• Negative Marking: 0.33 Mark for each wrong/multiple answer.
• Language: English only, except questions in Gujarati.

Syllabus for Main Written Examination

• Library Science
• English Language & Gujarati Language
• General Studies (History, Geography, Science, Current Affairs), Logical Reasoning and Analytical Ability
• Basic Legal Knowledge
• Basic Knowledge of Computer Application

(B) Viva-voce Test (Oral Interview) : [40 Marks] (Tentatively to be conducted in the Month of December, 2026 / January, 2027) (i) The Viva-voce Test shall be of 40 Marks. (ii) For being eligible to be included in the Final Merit List, the Candidate shall have to obtain a minimum of 40% Marks in the Viva-voce Test (Oral Interview).

Candidates must apply online through the official HC-OJAS portal. The application window is from 01/10/2026 to 20/10/2026.

1.    Visit the official High Court of Gujarat OJAS portal: hc-ojas.gujarat.gov.in.

2.    Refer to the “How to Apply – User Manual” available on the portal for detailed instructions.

3.    Fill in the online application form with all required details.

4.    Upload necessary documents, if any, as per the instructions.

5.    Pay the application fees online through SBI e-Pay.

6.    Submit the application and take a printout of the confirmed application and e-Payment Receipt/Challan for future reference.

7.    For District Judiciary posts, candidates must opt for Three Districts of their choice, indicating preference. No district preference will be given for Industrial Courts and Labour Courts.
