Veer Narmad South Gujarat University has invited applications and nominations from distinguished experts for engagement as Professor of Practice in University Post-Graduate Departments for the academic year 2026-27 on a temporary and contractual basis for one year only. Eligible candidates can submit online applications through the Google Form available on the official website from 1st to 20th of every month, with the first batch closing on 30 October 2026 (11:59 hrs).

Distinguished experts who have made remarkable contributions in their professions in fields such as engineering, science, technology, entrepreneurship, commerce, social sciences, media, literature, fine arts, civil services, armed forces, the legal profession, community development, panchayati raj, rural development, watershed development, water harvesting, organic farming, small green-energy systems, municipal planning, community participation, gender budgeting and planning, inclusive development of tribals and public administration, among others. Such experts must have proven expertise in their specific profession or role with at least fifteen (15) years of service or experience, preferably at a senior level. A formal academic qualification is not considered essential for this position where the candidate has exemplary professional practice in lieu thereof.

In the case of Departments running programmes under AICTE, the qualification and experience norms prescribed for Professor of Practice in the Government of Gujarat Resolution dated 14/10/2024 shall also be kept in view, namely: Ph.D. with 10 years of relevant experience in a large conglomerate; or a Master's degree with 15 years of relevant working experience in a large conglomerate; or B.E./B.Tech. with 17 years of relevant working experience in a large conglomerate; or Ph.D. / Master's / B.Tech. with a minimum of five (5) patents and 5 years of experience in a start-up. A Ph.D. is desirable for guiding research scholars at the Ph.D. level but is not mandatory for teaching.

Disqualification

Persons who are in the teaching profession — whether serving or retired — are excluded and shall not be engaged as Professor of Practice. Applications from such persons shall be summarily rejected.

Professor of Practice Salary

In terms of Ordinance–189, the amount or allowance payable to a Professor of Practice cannot be met from the salary grant received from the State Government. Where required to travel for the work of the University, mileage allowance is payable at rates ranging from ₹ 2.50 per km to ₹ 11.00 per km depending on the conveyance used, or at rates fixed by the State Government for taxis/auto rickshaws.

Professor of Practice Selection Process

The selection shall be carried out in accordance with the Procedure for Selection of Professor of Practice prescribed in Ordinance–189 and the University Circular dated 15/04/2023.

Selection Committee

The Selection Committee for the University shall consist of the Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor or their representative, the Head of the Department concerned, the Dean of the respective Faculty, two subject experts nominated by the Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor, and one eminent external member (non-academic) nominated by the Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor. The minimum quorum shall be four members, of whom the Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor or the representative of the Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor must be present.
